1. Audio and captions
Audelue processes your selected system, app, or microphone audio only after you start a session and grant the necessary permissions. It uses this audio for captions or translation. Screen and system audio recording permission is used to capture audio, not to record screen video.
The app does not save recordings. Temporary audio is released after processing or the session ends. With Apple on-device engines, caption and translation content is processed on your device.
2. Information on your Mac
Settings, prompts, and translation preferences you enter are stored locally. When history is enabled, captions, translations, and related session information are kept until you delete them, so you can revisit or export them. Failed processing may leave error records in history, without content or API keys.
API keys are protected by macOS Keychain. Other local content relies on your device's security. Audelue does not automatically sync this data to other devices.
3. When you use cloud services
You can choose OpenAI, Google Gemini, Microsoft Azure, Soniox, or DeepSeek and authorize each separately. Audelue connects directly to your chosen service using your API key:
- Speech recognition and speech translation: the selected audio and any relevant prompts you enter are sent.
- Text translation: captions, necessary preceding context, languages, and translation preferences are sent. DeepSeek receives text only, not audio.
Providers also receive connection information such as your IP address and service usage. They process and retain data according to their policies and your account settings. This may involve processing in other countries, product improvement, or human review. Please read the relevant information before enabling a service:

4. Your choices and deletion
- Pause or finish a session to stop receiving new audio.
- Withdraw a service's authorization, delete API keys, or clear saved prompt data in Settings → Cloud & Privacy. Withdrawing authorization stops further requests to that service.
- Turn off history saving, or delete individual sessions or all history. Turning saving off does not delete existing records.
Manage exported files and system backups separately. Uninstalling the app may leave keys in Keychain. Audelue cannot recall data already sent to a provider; use that service's account settings or privacy channels to request deletion.
5. Purchases, website, and support
Apple handles purchases, restoration, and Family Sharing. Audelue receives only the information needed to confirm full-version access, not your payment card details. Apple may also provide diagnostics and feedback according to your system or TestFlight settings. See Apple's privacy policy.
The app and website contain no advertising or usage analytics. The website uses GitHub Pages and no tracking cookies. GitHub may record IP addresses and other visit information to provide and protect hosting. See GitHub's privacy statement.
When you email support, the developer and email provider receive your address, message, and attachments to respond and resolve the issue. This information is kept only as needed to handle the issue or meet legal obligations. You can contact us to request deletion.

This policy covers the Audelue macOS app and this website, intended for users aged 18 and older. The developer and operator is ZHANG WENTIAN.
